Ada Mae C. Knussmann, nee Mees, 79, of Troy, Ill., formerly of Caseyville, Ill., born Dec. 31, 1931, in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 1:05 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
For many years Ada was the village treasurer and was the former manager of Valley Ridge Senior Community both in Caseyville. She attended the former Academy of Notre Dame in Belleville where she received a four year scholarship to St Louis University. She was a life long member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and St Annes Altar Society in Caseyville and attended St Jerome in Troy. She was also a member of the Caseyville Cemetery Association, the Caseyville Senior Citizens, and was the Fireman's Queen in 1949. Ada retired after many years as a supervisor from the U.S. Bureau of Census.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Knussmann; and her parents, Carl L. and Mada, nee Elliott, Mees.
Surviving are her sister, Rosemary Held of Caseyville, Ill.; children, Keith (Joyce) Knussmann of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Bonnie (Greg) Kruger of Springfield, Ill., Carla Anderson of Troy, Ill., and Mark (Rhys) Knussmann of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Dani Richmond, Kirk Knussmann, Scott Knussmann, Kim Fath and Kevin Anderson; and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say "thank you" to the "Angels" of the ICU department at Anderson Hospital.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Herr Funeral Home, Caseyville, Ill.
Friends may also call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caseyville, Ill.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caseyville, Ill., with Father Ray Schultz officiating. Burial will be at Caseyville Cemetery, Caseyville, Ill.
