Obituary

Akryis John Kilbert, the cherished infant son of Reginald Kilbert and Mary Oldham, unexpectedly gained his angel wings on September 1st, 2026. He was born on July 15th, a precious "teddy bear" to big sister Skye.

Akyris was a happy baby with the biggest, most joyful smile. He loved to eat and he loved keeping a death grip on his binkie - no one was taking it from him without his say so.  He loved falling asleep to lullabies and had just started making the cutest "cooing" noises. He may have been tiny, but his love for his parents was so strong, already making it known he was nothing if not a mama's boy. Though his time on this Earth was unfairly short, he made a lasting impression on everyone who got to meet him - especially the nurses at Anderson Hospital, where he was born. Akyris just couldn't wait to meet his family and made his entrance before the epidural even had a chance to set in. He made sure his was a birth no one would ever forget.

Akyris is forever remembered by his loving parents, Reginald and Mary; four year old sister, Skye Kilbert; grandparents, Jennifer (Kim Smith) Wongler, Elizabeth Utley, Shannon (Tiffany) Oldham, and Reginald (Jillian Moorehead) Kilbert; great grandparents, Donna Wongler, Charlotte Knapp, and Betty Kilbert; as well as many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Greeting him in Heaven with open arms are his aunt, MaKayla Kilbert; cousin, Carter Wongler; great grandparents, John Wongler, Sr., Franklin Knapp, Jimmy Loflin, Betty Brown, and Harvey Lee "June" Kilbert, Sr., as well as great-great grandparents, Orville and Theresa Fredericks and Mary and Charles Rinck.

A public visitation will be held from the chapel of Herr Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow at St. John's Cemetery.

May Akyris remain a beacon of love and light in everyone's hearts.

The family is being served by Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, IL, 62234.
