Albert Lee Ellis, 83 of Hillsboro, Illinois passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023. He was born October 18, 1939 in Pollard, Arkansas.
Albert proudly served his country for over 20 years. After retiring from the Army, he continued to stay busy with many other endeavors. He was a man of faith who served others as a minister. He went on to drive trucks and even taught truck driving to student drivers. Albert was very intelligent having obtained a master's degree.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Sherry (Lewis) Ellis, siblings Juanita Robins, Ivan Ellis, Winona (Richie) Noble, Sherman (Tina) Ellis, Margaret (Greg) Meyer, sisters-in-law Janet and Miriam; loving children James (Brenda) Ellis, Marianne Ellis, Tamara (Mark) Bauman, Troy McCulley, Tracey (John) Bandy; grandchildren Austin, Victoria, Cydney (Justin), Will, Samantha (Michael), Tiffany, Jonathan (MaryClaire), Jonah (Mareike), Hope (David), Brian, Jacob (Sydney), Josh, and Madison (Austin), 13 great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends. Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife Wanda (Ramey) Ellis, his parents Julaish and Verna (Jaeger) Ellis, siblings Bobby Charles Ellis, Jay Ellis, and Richard Ellis.
Services will be held at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main St. Collinsville, IL, with visitation on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. The burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Albert will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
