Alfreda L. Slaughter's Obituary

Alfreda L. Slaughter, 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Caseyville, Illinois, on March 30, 2026. She was born on February 16, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Alfred Hoskin, Sr., and Edna (White) Hoskin. Alfreda was a beloved soul whose warmth and kindness touched many lives in the Collinsville area.

Known far and wide for her big heart, Alfreda was more than just a familiar face; she had a true caretaker's soul. Alfreda’s life was richly textured with simple pleasures that brought her immense joy. She loved playing bingo, a game that not only entertained her but also brought her closer to friends and neighbors. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, through whom she experienced her greatest happiness.

Family was the cornerstone of Alfreda’s life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Monica Slaughter, who carries forward her mother’s legacy of strength and love. She also leaves behind her brother, Alfred Hoskin, Jr., her ex-husband, Kerry Slaughter, her beloved grandchildren, Breanna, Airyka, and Ashley; nieces, Dawn Hoskin, Morgan Alexander, Audrina and Sonja Garcia, and many more; as well as close family friends, Allison and Nik.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Hoskin, Sr. and Edna White; siblings, Virgil Hoskin, Sr., Roena Hoskin, Juanita Morrow, and Denise Smith. As well as her son, Jason Slaughter, whose memory she held close in her heart.

The passing of Alfreda leaves an undeniable void in the hearts of those who knew her. Yet, the richness of her spirit, her boundless compassion, and her generous soul remain ever present. Her memory will forever be a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring strength of family bonds. She will be remembered not only for the woman she was but for the love she so graciously shared.

The family is being served by Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, IL, 62234.
