Alvin W. Koenig, 84, of Collinsville, Ill., born June 8, 1928, in Edwardsville, Ill., died at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Koenig retired as production manager from the Lutheran Laymen's League and was a veteran. He was very active at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, a member of the Men's Club, Stephen's Ministry and was a former Sunday School treasurer. He also enjoyed and was a member of the Dart Ball Club and the Collinsville Recreation Club.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Rhoda, E. nee Weber, Koenig; and parents, Edward and Dora, nee Ziegler, Koenig.

Surviving are his daughters, Rhonda (Michael) Berta of Collinsville, Ill., Debbie (Jeff) McGraw of Sedalia, Mo., and Hanna (Ken) Bertulis of Collinsville, Ill.; brother and sisters, Vernon (Phyllis) Koenig of Hamel, Ill., Dorothy Creamer of Edwardsville, Ill., and Doris Bergst of Danville, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Ill., with the Rev. William Engfehr officiating. Interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
