Alvin Earle Richter, 83, of Collinsville, Ill., born Feb. 11, 1928, in Collinsville, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville, Ill.
Alvin retired from Spectralite Consortium after 40 years. He was a Korean War veteran and a life-long member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Colinsville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann "Kris," nee Krystoff, Richter, who died on Feb. 19, 2011; his parents, William and Aleida, nee Krapp, Richter; his brothers, Elmer, Lester, Melvin "Butts." Orville and Robert; and his sisters, Viola "Sis" Kamer and Betty Sauerwein.
Surviving are his children, Steve (Brenda) Richter of Columbia, Ill., Paul Richter of St. Louis, Mo., Laura (Earl) Johnson of Wichita, Kan., and Lisa Emmer of Collinsville, Ill.; his grandchildren, Adam, Sara and Eric Richter, Rebecca, Jared and Stacey Johnson, and Justin Frawley; his great-grandchildren, Brianne, Kylee, and Xavier; his sisters-in law, Agnes Richter of Collinsville, Ill., Gerry (Bob) Miller of Smithton, Ill., and Loretta Krystoff of Fairmont City, Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo., Rosewood Care Center, and Vitas Hospice for their supportive care.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Ill. Burial will follow at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
