Anna Marie McDowell, age 97 of Phoenix, AZ formerly from Maryville, IL born in Madison, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 6, 2020 at her son's home in Phoenix, AZ.

Anna was owner of the family business, Rocket Surplus Sales, and upon retirement she loved to spend time dancing, traveling, golfing, and spending quality time with her grand and great-grand children.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents Ernest & Anna Carlson, her brothers, John Carlson and Raymond Carlson, her sister, Mary Tanase, her husband, Lawrence E. McDowell, and a son, Joseph T. McDowell.

Anna is survived by her son, Mark McDowell (Marsha) of Phoenix, AZ and Daughter-in-Law, Linda McDowell of Collinsville, IL, 5 Grandchildren, Msgt. Matthew McDowell of Jacksonville, NC, Ryan (Bridget) McDowell of Two Rivers, WI, Erin McDowell of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA, Joseph (Angela) McDowell II of Milwaukie, OR, and Carrie McDowell of Troy, IL. 10 Great-Grandchildren, Alex, Hana, Shota, Tyler, Jared, Cassie, Anna, Aaron, Madisyn, and Jackson and Great-Great Granddaughter, Mackenzie. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm Friday, March 13 with a memorial service beginning at 7:00. Burial will be at Sunset Hills on Saturday, March 14, at 10am.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that Memorial donations be made in Anna's name to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or to Hospice of the Valley, 16117 N. 76th St., Scottsdale, AZ. These donations can also be received at Herr Funeral Home.
