Archie W. Schaffer, 95, Mascoutah, and longtime Quincy resident, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 20, 2011.
Born on Feb. 8, 1923, Archie was a devoted husband, loving father and nurturing grandfather. He retired from Quincy Compressor Co. in 1978 after more than 35 years of service. Archie''s family was his focus and he lived a life of integrity.
His wife of 67 years, Blanche (Reed) Schaffer, preceded him in death on October 12, 2010. His surviving family include his daughter, Barbara Schaffer of Phoenix, AZ; his son, Bob Schaffer (Debbie) of Mascoutah; three grandsons, Rick Galbraith of Dallas, TX, Philip Galbraith ofLaurel, MD, and Scott Schaffer of Quincy; one granddaughter, Kris Herron of Phoenix, AZ; his sister-in-law, Mildred Alford of New Baden, IL; four great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
MEMORIALS: Heartland Hospice Care, 333 Salem Place, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
