Arthur W. Mace, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., born Oct. 27, 1927, in Kansas City, Kan., passed away at 11:53 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Belleville Nursing and Rehab in Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Mace worked at Grandpa's in the jewelry department, then for the Smith family when they began L.E. Smith Jewelers. He retired as a salesperson from L.E. Smith. Arthur was a kindhearted man, he loved all animals and was always there to offer a helping hand. Every year he would help at the L.E. Smith firework stand. He may be remembered for his "cemetery tin cans" he and his partner made and sold at all the Grandpa's Stores.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel, nee Skogstrom, Mace.

He is survived by many close friends.

Funeral: Graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
