MARYVILLE- Arzella "Arkie" V. Kantola, 94, of Maryville passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon.

Arkie was born on May 21, 1922 in Des Moines, IA to William E. and Ellen Matilda, nee Williams, Sylvester.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy Kantola, whom she married on August 14, 1954; sons, Eric Kantola and Kevin Kantola, both of Fullerton, CA; nieces, Barbara (Rolf) Maurer, Miriam (William) Koons, and nephew, Alan (Sharon) Sylvester; six great nieces and two nephews; and many more relatives on her husband''s side of the family.

Arkie worked at State Farm, before retirement. She was an active member at Our Lord''s Lutheran Church of Maryville. She belonged to several bridge clubs over the years, and enjoyed reading extensively. She played golf, bowled and traveled considerably. She was a member of the D.A.R. of Edwardsville, Ill.

Along with her husband, Arkie and their two boys moved and lived in eleven different places throughout the years. They operated a horse boarding business and raised beef cattle, in addition to their employment with State Farm.

Visitation: A visitation for Arkie will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 9:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at Our Lord''s Lutheran Church in Maryville.

Service: A funeral service will follow the visitation, at 11:00 A.M. at the church.
