Barbara J. Weathers, 89, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023 at Stillwater Senior Living. She was born to Jack and Sadie (Gass) Watkins on June 3, 1934 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She married Paul Weathers on May 14, 1953. They enjoyed 69 years together before his passing in 2022.

Those left to cherish Barbara's memory are her children Sharon (Jim) Commerford, Roy (Donna) Weathers, and Brian (Pamela) Weathers, 2 sisters Edith McDaniel and Geneva Medlock, brother Gary Watkins, grandchildren Jase Bennett, Brian Michael Weathers, Charli Trawick, great grandchildren, and many more family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Paul Weathers, brother J.C. Watkins, sisters Ina May Hanley and Delores Hemmer.

Barbara loved to sew and was talented in her needlework. She was a gifted artist who hand painted portraits at Weathers Photography studio, she also enjoyed painting as a hobby. Paul and Barbara were very active with the American Legion in Granite City for many years and she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary while she was a member. Some of her favorite things were peanut butter, playing bingo and snacking on popcorn. Barbara enjoyed time with her family and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Services will be held at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois with visitation Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. An additional viewing will be held the next day on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. The burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
