Betty J. Frakes, 91, of Collinsville, IL, born July 26, 1929 in Kinmundy, IL, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at The Colonnades Heritage in O'Fallon, IL.

Mrs. Frakes retired from Collinsville School District Unit 10 as a Kindergarten teacher, teaching at Doris Elementary School for over 20 years. She graduated from SIUE with a masters degree in Elementary education. She was a member of the NEA (National Educators Association). She was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church, Collinsville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents Myron and Cloa Hammer, a sister Genevive Jones, four brothers, Delbet Hammer, Howard Hammer, James Hammer, Earl Hammer and her husband, William R. Frakes.

She is survived by her son Mark Frakes of Sarasota, FL, a daughter Marsha (Timothy) Bagley of Swansea, IL, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held on January 23, 2021. Burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

A Celebration of Life service in honor of Mrs. Frakes is being planned for her family and friends at a later date.
