IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Mae
Mueggenburg
January 13, 1933 – December 24, 2025
Betty Mae Mueggenburg (nee Hensley), born January 13, 1933, in Neelyville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Maryville, Illinois. She was 92 years old.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late John R. Mueggenburg Sr., and together they built a life centered around family and love. She was the devoted mother of nine children; John R Mueggenburg Jr. (Reva) of Mooresville, North Carolina, Gary D. Mueggenburg (Fran) of Collinsville, Illinois, Barbara S. Baker of Greenville, Illinois, Sandra K Mueggenburg of Troy, Illinois, Sharon F. Timmermann (Russell) of Breese, Illinois, Carol J. Paddock (Bill) of Jerseyville, Illinois, Patricia D. Chapman (Thomas) of Adams, Tennessee, Janet L Shaffer (Scott) of Edwardsville, Illinois and Karen A Hoelscher (Dan) of Edwardsville, Illinois.
She was a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren. Her eyes sparked with joy whenever her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited—those moments brought her immeasurable happiness.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; John R. Mueggenburg Sr, her parents; Paul and Laura Hensley, two brothers; James and Charles Hensley and one sister Linda L. Larson.
A lifelong homemaker with a deep well of creativity and care, Betty raised her family in Edwardsville, Illinois. Her home was always filled with warmth—the aroma of home-cooked meals wafting from the kitchen where she showcased her talents as a good cook. She was also a skilled seamstress who lovingly crafted clothing and keepsakes for her family over the years.
In quieter moments, Betty enjoyed dabbling in painting. But perhaps nothing brought her more peace than rocking her grandchildren in her arms—a pastime she treasured deeply.
Betty's legacy is one of unwavering devotion to family and quiet strength that shaped generations. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived and deeply loved.
