Betty (Pochek Miller) Maslosky, 97, of Caseyville, Ill., born March 3, 1918, in Belleville, Ill., died Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Bethalto Care Center, Bethalto, Ill.
Betty had a strong work ethic and had various jobs throughout her rich life. In St. Louis, she worked as a timekeeper at Emerson Electric, an operator's assistant at Monsanto, a kitchen assistant at Stix Baer and Fuller, and a clerk/typist/teller at Mercantile Bank. She was at Mercantile for 27 years. Later in life, she owned and operated Miller Car Wash (in Collinsville) with her first husband and Southtown Car Wash (also in Collinsville) with her second husband.
She had several hobbies, including bowling, ceramics, deep-sea fishing, and pheasant hunting. She enjoyed country music and traveled to Branson and Nashville often. Casino gambling was a passion for her, and she enjoyed playing in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Tunica, and Reno. Most of all, she loved to travel and had visited all fifty states. In later years, she and her second husband traveled extensively with their RV. No matter where she was, though, she always enjoyed her "shrimps" and whiskey sours.
