Obituary

Betty Sale, nee Casassa, 86, of Collinsville, Ill., born Jan. 1, 1925, in Spring Valley, Ill., died at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, in Collinsville, Ill.



Mrs. Sale was employed by the Metro-East Journal where she was a typesetter and proof reader. Later she owned and operated Betty's Clip Joint. She was a member of Glenview Church of the Nazarene in Glen Carbon, Ill., and the Telephone Company Pioneers.



Betty was preceded by her first husband of 41 years, Robert "Chic" Sale whom she married on Aug. 7, 1943; and second husband, Jim McDowell; parents, James and Leona, nee Prevost; one great grandson Jude Scarlett.



Surviving are her husband, George Esterlein, whom she married on Dec. 30, 1995; daughters, Ellen Bethel of Poulsbo, Wash., Lisa (Mark) Scarlett-Platt of Tacoma, Wash., Rena (Doug Hall) Storm of Collinsville, Ill., and Jill (Norm) Jambois of O'Fallon, Mo.; grandchildren, Kristin Hamlin, Ross and Ryan Bethel, Tammy and Megan Scarlett, Jennifer Lee, Nathan Storm, Corbin, Colton, Kale and Haydn Hall, Dorian Vincent, Sydney, Grant, Rylee and Karsyn Jambois; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Glenview Church of the Nazarene in Glen Carbon, Ill. Interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
