Beverly Elaine Fort of Edwardsville, Illinois, born on July 1, 1927 in Red Wing, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 1:32 a.m., July 16, 2020, at the age of 93 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Beverly was a talented artist and designer. She began her career in hand painting at Red Wing Pottery in 1943. She supervised the department for seven years. In 1950, she moved to Lincoln, Illinois to become a Hand Painting Instructor at Stetson Pottery where she worked for eleven years. She met Homer Fort there, and they married January 27, 1951. She continued her career at Avery & Comstock for the next 25 years. She was hired as their first Female Salesperson and retired there as an Interior Designer. In 1999,she moved to Edwardsville to live with her niece and family.
In addition to her parents, John and Florence (Parkin) Petersdorf, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Fort and her oldest son, Randy Fort.
Those left to cherish her beloved memory include her youngest son, William Fort; niece and nephew (Goddaughter and Godson), Kevin and Mary (Owrey) Myers); great nephew (Godson), Adam Myers; great niece (Goddaughter), Elaine Myers; sister, Marilyn Hennig; nephew, John Owrey; great nieces, Christina Owrey and Michelle Owrey; and nephew, Richard Owrey.
Beverly was a kind and caring person who was devoted to God and her family. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Ladies Guild, Edwardsville, Illinois. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln, Illinois. A mass in her memory will be held at St. Mary's Church in Edwardsville, Illinois.
