Billy E. Brown - Passed away peacefully, March 18, 2023, at 3:15 PM, with his family by his at Anderson Hospital. Age 84.
Billy was born October 26, 1938 in Alton, MO and spent most of his childhood in Alton and Thayer, MO before moving to East St. Louis, where he met the love of his life, Jackie (nee Howe) Brown.
He is survived by his five children Charlene (Jon) Granda, of Trenton, IL; Douglas (Stefani) Brown, of Edinburgh, IN; Kevin Brown, of Highland, IL; Penny (Dean) Keller, of Glen Carbon, IL; and Todd (June) Brown, of Fairview Heights, IL. Loving grandfather to his nine grandchildren Jason (Maureen) Granda, Jared Granda, Sara (Charles) Cotner, Andrew (Jen) Brown, David (Tabitha) Brown, Danielle (Brian) Alexander, Abraham Brown, Tori Keller and Makenzi Keller. Proud great-grandfather to eleven Nathan, Nicholas and Joshua Brown, Chloe, Joshua, Ellie and Thomas Cotner, Ava and Everett Brown, Prudence and Tulip Granda. Also survived by a brother Kenneth (Susan) Brown of Summerville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Jackie; his parents James and Eva (nee Johnson) Brown; and a Jerry Brown, of Maryville, IL.
Billy is a retired dockhand and truck driver, where he worked for many different trucking companies in the St Louis area. He was a member of the local Teamsters Union and proudly served time in the U.S. Marine Reserves.
While raising their children he and his wife spent many weekends enjoying time with friends in their 'Camping Club' and playing cards with family and friends. After retirement, he and Jackie enjoyed traveling and spending time with their grandchildren.
Billy was an avid St Louis Cardinals Fan, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and working in his yard. He was a Lifetime & Hall of Fame Member of the Sesser-Valier Outdoorsman Deer Hunting Club for the physically challenged and a member of the Discover Family Church Men's Club in Collinsville. Billy recently made many new friends at the Villas of Hollybrook Independent Living in Collinsville.
Billy was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Memorial Estates. Memorials in Billy's name can be made to the Villa's of Hollybrook or the Disabled American Veterans Association will be appreciated. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4-8 PM and again on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 10:00 AM.
