Bonnie Lea Gerdes, 73, of Collinsville, Ill., born Dec. 27, 1938, in Harville, Mo., died at 6:35 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.



Bonnie retired from McDonnell Douglas after 33 years of service. After her retirement she worked part time for Gordmans and Walmart. She also was a volunteer for Faith Walk at St. John's United Church of Christ, where she was a member.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ethel Bell, nee Shelton, Gerdes; two brothers and two sisters, John Gerdes, Ruth Young, Charles Gerdes and Hilda Aikens.



Surviving are her daughter, Deanna M. Achs of Shiloh, Ill.; and grandchildren, Paul A. Achs III, of Shiloh, Ill., and Rachel A. Achs of Shiloh, Ill.; and her brother, Robert Gerdes Sr., of St. Peters, Mo.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tony Minear officiating. Interment in St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
