IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brian K
Hart
September 2, 1957 – December 8, 2022
Brian Keith Hart, 65, passed away on December 8, 2022. Brian was born in Hillsboro, IL on September 2, 1957, to parents Cecil Hart and Jane (Killpatrick) Hart.
Brian was a loving husband and father, dedicating his life to taking care of his family and his students. He spent eighteen years working at the Hillsboro Glass Co., but his true passion was teaching and coaching. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and began his teaching career as a fourth grade teacher in Witt, IL. He accepted a seventh grade social studies position at Hillsboro Junior High School two years later and remained there until retirement. He coached seventh grade basketball, high school football, and countless volleyball, basketball, and rugby games from the sidelines to support his children in their athletics.
He was married to the love of his life, Karen. Brian was an athlete his entire life. He loved sports. He was an All-Star player on the Hillsboro High School baseball team receiving a scholarship to play at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He was a talented golfer and continued to enjoy the game into retirement. He had an uncanny ability to recall players and statistics from just about every sport from the last 50 years. He also loved music, knowing just about every song on the radio and would sing along. He kept his mind sharp by playing Sudoku, staying current with political events (which he loved debating), and watching documentaries. Brian and his wife spent time together traveling and riding bicycles on the trails throughout southern Illinois seeing many unique locations.
Brian was preceded in death by his father Cecil Hart.
Left to carry on his memory are his loving wife Karen (Moats) Hart; children Alison (Adam) McCammack of Hillsboro, IL, Andrea Hart of Petersburg, IL, and Christopher Miofsky (Ruben Gutierrez) of Denver, CO.; mother Jane Hart of Hillsboro, IL; Brother Brad (Kai) Hart of Hillsboro, IL.; Grandchildren Dylan McCammack and Adyson McCammack of Hillsboro, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind countless students whose lives he touched. He is deeply missed by all.
Memorial Services will be held at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon on Tuesday Dec. 13, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hillsboro Junior High School or to the American Cancer Society.
