Calvin Curtis

Calvin "Tom" Curtis, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., born Oct. 18, 1931 in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Dec. 13, 2016, in Maryville, Ill.

Tom was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 30 years and he served in the US Army from 1948 until 1952. He was a member of Collinsville VFW Post 5691 and Bluff View Baptist Church.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Calvin Clewis and Lois, nee Almond, Curtis; brothers, James Curtis and Ed Newman; nephews, Robert Hogue and Patrick Curtis.

Surviving are his loving wife Lydia, nee Hogue, Curtis, whom he married April 2, 1966; children, Brent Shapiro of Collinsville, Ill., Cheryl (Mark) Johnson of Avondale, Ariz., Christina Curtis of Troy, Ill., Carol (Robert) York of Litchfield, Ill.; sister, Donna Valentine of Port Townsend, Wash.; grandchildren, Joshua Shapiro, Hannah (Ian) Freeman, Jessica Woehrle, Heather Saggio, Mary Saggio, Aaron Saggio;10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Carol) Hogue, Herman (Mary) Hogue, Dotty (David) Shepherd; special friends and family, Pam, Dina, Lisa, Jackie, Gary, Robyn, John, Sally, Carrie, Brenda, Paul, Joel and Erla; Bluffview Baptist Church family and Pastor Roger Wright.

Memorials may be made to Collinsville Food Pantry, Faith in Action or Bluffview Baptist Church. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.

Visitation: Friends may visit the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Bluffview Baptist Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Bluffview Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Wright officiating.

According with Calvin's wishes, anatomical donation was granted to Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.
