Obituary

Calvin E. Webb, 90, of Glen Carbon, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012.



Calvin was born to Firm and Myrtle Webb near Lindsey, Okla., in 1921. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Webb (Thompson). They celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2011. He is also survived by son Jerry and wife Judy Webb of Bethany, Okla.; daughter Renee and husband Dan Binkley of Moro, Ill., grandson Kevin and wife Samarea and great-granddaughter April of Norman, Okla., granddaughter Kristi Hollis (Webb) of Bethany, Okla., great-granddaughters Autumn and Cassidy Hollis of Bethany, Okla., great granddaughter Brittany Hollis-Moore with husband Nathan Moore and great-great-grandson Hudson of Edmond, Okla., granddaughter Heather Iatomasi (Schooley) and husband Jason Iatomasi of Hoffman Estates, Ill., grandson William Schooley IV of Edwardsville, Ill., granddaughter Danielle Binkley of Edwardsville, Ill.



Cal is also survived by brother Armond C. Webb and wife Tawana of Coarse Gold, Calif. He was pre-deceased by four brothers: Durwood, Bill, Paul and Roy. Also three sisters: Ovellea, Julia, and Delores.



Cal had the typical youth experiences during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl days 1929-1935 in Oklahoma. He and Patsy were married in 1941. Cal served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces in the Pacific. After Okinawa was secured, the Japanese surrendered and he took a short trip to Japan. After he cruised under the Golden Gate Bridge in January 1946. With major help from what he referred to as a "Liberal Government" he received a college degree from the University of Oklahoma.



He worked for 32 years and retired from Amoco Oil Corporation in Chicago as manager of Benefit Plans Administration and Payroll Accounting. Retirement life with Patsy was great; travel, golf, grandkids, and good health. His life reflected his Christian faith and he will be greatly missed.



In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Calvary Baptist Church of Edwardsville, Ill.



Visitation: Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill.



Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill., with Rev. Brad Thomas officiating.
