Carolyn J. Beard

Carolyn Joyce Beard, 81, of Chesterfield MO, formerly of Collinsville IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.  She was born on August 24, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of the late Wesley and Hazel Charlotte, nee Johnson, Neal.

Carolyn had a wonderful flair for entertaining friends and family, and a finesse for creating culinary feasts enjoyed by any fortunate to sit at her table. She had been an avid bridge player for several years and loved to challenge anyone to a game of Scrabble.  Carolyn had loved to travel, especially back to California, to her beloved ocean, where it was not uncommon for her to be up at sunrise on the beach searching for seashells with family in tow.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger D. Beard, whom she was married to for 47 years.  She is survived by her children, Candace (Daniel) Briggs of Carmel, IN, Christopher Livingston of Vandalia, MO and Gregory (Brenda) Livingston of Chesterfield, MO; special Grammie to four grandchildren, Alexandra and Anastasia Briggs and Alexis and Aleah Livingston; and one brother, Wesley (Peggy) Neal of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Illinois, with a memorial service at 1:00 PM at the church. Reverend Kyle Wright will officiate. Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
