Carolyn Carroll, 80, of Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully at home on March 28th, 2025, surrounded in love by her family.

A Collinsville, IL native, she was born Carolyn "Chick" Smith on November 7, 1944, to parents Edwin and Mary Smith.

She dedicated her life to serving the elderly community as a nursing home administrator. In her free time, she loved to travel with her family, especially enjoying time at the beach. When she wasn't traveling or at work, she could be found sitting on her front porch waving at all the cars that would drive by, hitting up the local slot machines, or taking her best friend, Rooster Lynn Carroll, for car rides.
Carolyn was a devoted wife and a loving mother, but her true joy in life came from being a gram and great-gram. She was the true matriarch of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mary Smith; her devoted husband of 44 years, Eugene "Moose" Carroll; and her son, Garen Carroll.

She is survived by her granddaughters Nicole (Chris) Jeffrey and their children Stella and Tucker, Jessica (Aaron) Goins, and Brittany (Anthony) Wilson and their children Hunter and Dylan; her children Victoria Carroll, Terry Carroll, Debbie (Mark) Mundell, and Jennifer Landing; and her brother Tom Smith.

Memorials may be made in her honor to the Siteman Cancer Research and Treatment Center in St. Louis, MO.

A public visitation will be held Thursday April 3rd, 2025 from 3-7pm at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive in Glen Carbon, IL. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 4th, 2025 at 10:30am from the chapel of Sunset Hill. Burial will follow directly after.
