Carolyn "Lucy" Rhyne

Carolyn "Lucy", nee Thomas, Rhyne, 78, of Collinsville, IL., born October 15, 1939, Vienna, IL., passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at her home.  Lucy will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, amazing sister, special aunt, an exceptional friend, and a caring nurse.

Lucy graduated from the The Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, St, Louis, MO., in 1960, and worked as an RN for over 30 years.  Nursing was the perfect vocation for Lucy, as she dedicated her life to helping others.

Lucy loved to garden, read, and spend time with her friends.  But, most of all she loved spending time with her family and being "Grammy" to her two grandchildren.  Her dedication and love for them was beyond bounds.  She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Collinsville, IL.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Gladys Thomas of Chester, IL.

She is survived by her sons, Scott Rhyne of Dallas, TX., Mark (Beth) Rhyne of O'Fallon, IL.; and her two grandchildren, Nathan and Elise Rhyne; her sister, Louise (Larry) Greenwood; her brother, Jack (Imogene) Thomas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and can be received at the funeral home.  Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services for Lucy will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home with Pastor Katie Jo Bielke officiating.  Burial will follow the services at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
