Obituary

Cassie C. Cooper, 72, of Fairview Heights, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, September 27, 2014.

She was born on September 22, 1942, in Sanford, TX. She was the eldest daughter of the late Clark and Cassie RueEll (Hart) Camp of Amarillo, TX.

She is survived by her loving husband Harold, and 3 children Trena Camerer, Mark (Julie Thompson) Camerer and Joe Camerer and 4 grandchildren Matt, Mike Hannah and Adam and 4 stepchildren Debra Cooper, Ron Cooper, Karen (Don) Cooper Taylor and Chris (Diana Schoonoder) Cooper including 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her siblings Sharlot (Garry) Cope, Rodney (Trish) Camp and Phyllis Camp also survive.

Cassie was a nurturing and devoted mother to her children and their families. She was always quick with words of encouragement and prayers of protection. Cassie showed courage and strength while facing the challenges of life and was always reminding others of the blessings that God has bestowed upon them.

Harold and Cassie were married on May 6 2001. Their journey together has been one of love, friendship and mutual admiration. She always felt honored to have Harold by her side.

Cassie had a contagious smile and touched the lives of those she came in contact with. She was known for her sense of enthusiasm and adventure. Cassie had a long and fulfilling career as a bookkeeper and retired from the City of Collinsville in 2003. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, tending her flower garden, tracing family genealogy, scrapbooking, quilting and reading.

She will be greatly missed and has left a huge void in the lives of her friends and family. Everyone who knew her well including her church family at First Baptist Church in Cottage Hills, are taking comfort in knowing that she now has a new home in Heaven.
