Catherine M. Kane, nee Kusmierczak, 98, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born on Jan. 16, 1916, in Madison, Ill., died at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, in Maryville, Ill.

Mrs. Kane retired from SS Kresge and K-Mart after 21 years of service.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes, nee Stronski, Kusmierczak; brothers, John Kusmierczak, Walter Kusmierczak Theodore Kusmierczak and Stephen Kusmierczak; a sister, Helen Buhr; and a granddaughter, Haley Bergkoetter.

Surviving are her daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Brown of Maryville, Ill., and Barbara Wetzel of Fairview Heights, Ill.; grandchildren: Larry Wetzel Jr.(Carrie), Debra Bergkoetter(Paul), Sherry Papachrisanthou (Peter), Jerry Brown Jr., James Brown (Dawn), Brenda Brown-Schleper(Jeffrey), Jeffrey A. Brown; great-grandchildren: Sean Petty(Jamie), Lucas Wetzel, Paige Wetzel, Katarina Papachrisanthou, Niko Papachrisanthou, Alexis Brown, Jacob Brown, Lauren Brown, and Blaine Schleper; and one great-great-grandchild, Grindel R. Petty.

Funeral: Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
