Cayden Fortner, 3, of Collinsville, Ill., born Sept. 29, 2007, went into the arms of the Lord on Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.



Cayden was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Jerry Nelson.



Surviving are his mother, Christina Goodwin of Collinsville, Ill.; father, Zach Fortner; a sister, Nylynn Fortner; uncle, Riley Goodwin of Marissa, Ill.; maternal grandparents, Dawn (Dave McCartney) Malone and Jeff (Norma) Nelson; maternal great-grandparents, Riley and Rita Goodwin Sr., and Pat Nelson; maternal great-great-grandparents, John and Paula Centuzi; paternal grandparents, Zach and Iola Fortner; five aunts, Chastity Malone, Cierra Malone, Cheyennea Malone, Angelia Goodwin and Alyssa Goodwin; two uncles, Aaron McCartney and Andrew McCartney; cousins, Mariah McDaniel and Emmalynn Goodwin; and many more loving family members and friends.



The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the paramedics and all the doctors and nurses at Belleville Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill., and Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. Their actions have given the family comfort in knowing that because of their little angel, Cayden, being an organ donor many other children are receiving the gift of life and hope.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at the Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill, with the Rev. Tony Minear officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
