Obituary

Charles R. "Bob" Poole, 92, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away Saturday,

December 5, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Bob was born on February 11, 1928 in Granite City, Illinois to Bertha M. (nee Miller) and George R. Poole.

He was a lifelong resident of Granite City until moving to Stillwater Assisted Living (Edwardsville, Illinois) in July of 2019.

Bob retired from Granite City Steel after 31 years of service.  In his retirement, Bob and his wife Myrtle enjoyed traveling, bowling in the Thursday Seniors league at Bowland in Granite City, and he enjoyed being a Marshal at Legacy Golf Course.  He was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 plus years Myrtle M. (nee Hancock) Poole, as well as his older brother, Wilbur Poole.

Surviving are his loving daughters, Deborah R. (Brian) Ponder of Maryland Heights, Missouri and Gail L. (Steven) Gray of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and a younger brother,

Jerry Poole.  Grandchildren, Michael Ponder, Henry Naumann, Joseph Ponder,

Sarah Ponder and Eric Gray. Great-granddaughter, Addison Ponder.

In addition, Bob had many dear relatives and friends.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to The American Heart Association or Central Christian Church Granite City.
