Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Hampton, 55, of Caseyville, Ill., passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

Chuck was the owner operator of Hamptons Bargain Barn, and Hampton Properties. He served as administrator for the Caseyville Moose Lodge for several years, as well as the city inspector for the village of Caseyville, until he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hampton; grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members.

Surviving are his loving wife, Sharon, nee Powers, Hampton, whom he married on May 12, 1979; his mother, Betty, nee Wells, Hampton of Collinsville; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Green; his two children, Charles Hampton of Caseyville, and Tara Hayden of Keller, Texas; his two grandsons, who were the pride of his life, "Pa Pa's boys", Austin and Josh; five siblings, Char (John) Diesel, Cindy (Tom) Keilbach, Mike (Donna) Hampton, Shelly (Mark) Shrum, and Hester Kenecht; a brother-in-law, Monty and Kim Powers; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends.

Chuck fought his battle like a champion and wanted to give thanks to all the family, friends, and medical staff who helped him along the way.

Visitation: A memorial gathering will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Herr Funeral Home, Caseyville, Ill.

Funeral: A celebration of life will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the funeral home.
