Charles S. Cloin Jr., 69 years old, was born on December 27, 1951, in East St. Louis, IL, and passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in O'Fallon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Cloin (nee Malinosky), stepmother Rita Cloin (nee Benyr), and father Charles S. Cloin Sr.

Charlie was an avid "foodie".  He enjoyed good meals, dining out, coordinating vacations around restaurant options, having the traditional "birthday dinner", and had no problem critiquing a meal.

He was also a historian, believing the study of history inspires replication of the positive and not the negative.  He especially focused on the Civil War, enjoying time visiting battlefields with his family.

In fact, above all else, Charlie was a man committed to his family.  The interests of his children far outweighed those of his own.  He was always very involved in his children's activities, including coaching several sports teams.  And he loved nothing more than cherishing the precious time spent with his grandkids.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Vicki Anne Cloin (nee Dankenbring); his children, Charles "Bill" (Tina) Cloin and Michael "Scott" (Jennifer) Cloin; his grandchildren, Madelina Cloin, Elliana Cloin, and Aidan Cloin; and his stepsiblings Bill (Vicky) Benyr, Mark Benyr, Patty (Jim) Mazzaro, and Cheryl (Rusty) Brombolich, and their respective families.

Visitation will be held at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL, on Thursday, February 18, 2021, from 10 am to 12 pm with a funeral service starting at 12 pm, and burial immediately following at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
