COLLINSVILLE, IL- Charles A. Franklin, 89, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

He was born on June 23, 1928 in Cora, IL to Charles B. and Fay Murden Franklin. He married Dolores Benson on September 4, 1948 in East St. Louis, IL. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2004. He then married Irene Maney of Collinsville. She survives.

He is survived by his son, Robert C. (Terri) Franklin of Sunrise Beach, MO; two grandchildren, Jonathan (Shayla) Franklin of St. Louis, MO and Matthew (Hillary) Franklin of Long Beach, CA; two great-grandchildren, Eva and Beau Franklin and one great-granddaughter, expected to arrive in March.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Alvin Franklin, Ralph Franklin, and Juanita Coppotelli.

Charles worked and retired as a refrigerator engineer for Swift + Co. for 40 years. He then went to work for the City of Collinsville, Sewer and Water Department. He was also a member of the Swansea Moose Lodge.

VISITATION: A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. -12:00 P.M. at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL.

FUNERAL: A funeral for Charles will be held on Saturday, following the visitation, at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
