Charles Hellinger, 78 was born May 5, 1943, in Granite City, IL passed away on Sunday March 28, 2021, in Edwardsville, IL.

Charles graduated from SIUE with an English degree.  He immediately, joined the Army Officer Training school, he spent a year in Vietnam and retired from the Army in 1973 as a Major.

He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Alberta (Frazier) Hellinger.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jo (O'Leary) Hellinger.  Charlie had a passion for travel, food, and Ancient History.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made in honor of Charlie, to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 305 S. Illinois St., Belleville, IL 62220.
