Charles Edward Walker, 76, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on April 10, 2024. He was born on October
31, 1947, in Granite City, IL. Charles, known to many as a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished
grandfather, leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
In his early years, Charles attended Collinsville High School and later pursued a career as a Carpenter's
Apprentice. He also proudly served in the Air Force for 4 years. After his military service, Charles
dedicated himself to his work as a carpenter and at Walkers Cabinets, where he showcased his
craftsmanship and dedication.
Aside from his professional life, Charles had a passion for classic cars and street rods, finding joy in
tinkering and restoring vehicles. He was a member of the Nazarene Church where he found solace and
community.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Walker (nee Schardan); his brother, William (Bill) Walker;
his children, Ed (Heather) Walker, Craig (Monica) Walker, and Cheryl (Donald) Wurth; and his six
grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Edward Walker; his mother, Shirley Walker
(nee Daniels); and his sister, Patricia Walker.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Charles's life will be held on Wednesday, April 17th. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Autism Speaks in memory of Charles Walker.
