Charles A. "Whitey" Smock IV, 73, of O''Fallon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his residence.
Whitey was born on February 23, 1944 in East St. Louis, IL to Charles A. "Spoony" Smock III and Iris Nadine, nee Drake, Smock. His mother survives.
He married Barbara Roberts on October 27, 1965 in East St. Louis, IL. She survives and resides in O''Fallon.
He is also survived by his children, Charles A. Smock V, Randy (Sharlene) Powers, Todd Powers, and Danna (Kevin) Brown; and his 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Suzy, Cody, Justin, Hannah, Michelle, and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Spoony and his dear aunt, Effie Landgraf.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He and Barbara were stationed at Ft. Hood from 1966-1968. He worked for CSX Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 2003.

Whitey was an avid Miami Dolphins and Blackhawks fan. He coached soccer and baseball locally and was a devoted Boy Scout leader. He was always putting others first and was always first to make others smile. Above all else, he loved his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He will be dearly missed.
SERVICE: A memorial service for Whitey will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville.
VISITAITON: A visitation will be held on Friday, from 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Herr Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
