Christian J. H. Rottier, 75, of Collinsville, Ill., born April 20, 1937, in Blois, France, died at 10:45 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012, in Collinsville, Ill., with his family at his side.
Mr. Rottier was a French Army veteran serving in Africa, and the Algerian War. After being discharged from the French Army, Christian came to North America first to Canada then eventually to the U.S. where he met his wife and raised his family in Collinsville, Ill. He retired from the Collinsville Unit 10 School District.
Christian was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert A. Rottier and Suzanne Renard; and two sisters, Christiane Ravard and Lydie Rottier.
Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Rosanna, nee Swingler, Rottier of Collinsville, Ill.; children, Natalie (Greg) Kessler of Granite City, Ill., Erik (Heather Hays) Rottier of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Tina (Doug) Shepard of Maryville, Ill.; grandchildren, Ayrika, Sylvie and Ryan; and a sister, Claudia Tolle.

Funeral: Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, Ill., with Father John Beveridge officiating. Interment in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Ill.
