Cleora B. Grimm, nee Wedel, 99, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Feb. 21, 1914, in Marissa, Ill., died at 7:05 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
Cleora was a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend who will be fondly remembered. She was a charter member of the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Auxiliary Board in 1969, most recently recognized as an emeritus member. She proudly remembers the first day the hospital opened and has fond memories of the Monday afternoon auxiliary shift that she served on for over 30 years. She was involved in the Junior Service Club, serving as president from 1944 to 1945. She was a life long member of St. John United Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and assisted in establishing "The Learning Tree" preschool program. She was also a charter member of Evening Circle, and very active with the Friends of Collinsville Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Melbourne W. Grimm, whom she married on Oct. 23, 1938; and her parents, Dr. Philip J. and Tillie, nee Lerche, Wedel.
Surviving are her daughter, Carole (Richard) MacMinn of Bloomington, Ill.; son, Douglas Grimm of Dicksen, Tenn.; grandchildren, Sarah MacMinn of Austin, Texas, Mark (Shannon) MacMinn of Portland Ore., Casey Grimm of Dicksen, Tenn., Corey Grimm of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Rhyan Grimm of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and a cousin, Philip (Barbara) Wedel of St. Louis County, Mo.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Minear officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
