Retired USAF Chief Master Sgt. Lloyd W. Cooper, 69, of Troy, Ill., born Tuesday, April 13, 1943, in Algona, Iowa, passed away at 1:22 a.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at his home.
Lloyd retired from the US Air Force after 28 years of service as a Chief Master Sergeant. After his retirement he continued working for the Veterans Administration. He was also a Vietnam era veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis A. and Annabella, nee Jensen, Cooper.
Surviving are his wife, Jean, nee Hankins, Cooper, whom he married on Feb. 1, 1964; daughters, Melissa Cooper of Collinsville, Ill., and Michelle (James) Nickerson of Collinsville, Ill.; his sister, Pamela (John) Whelchel of DesMoines, Iowa; grandsons, senior Airman Jacob (Natalie) Nickerson of Tampa, Fla., Christopher Nickerson, Michael Nickerson and Clayton Nickerson, all of Collinsville, Ill.; nephew, Michael (Nikki) Whelchel of Iowa; and niece, Marisa McClimon of Iowa.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
