Daniel Gene Hrysko, 72, of Wildwood, Mo., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born Feb. 11, 1943, in Granite City, Ill., passed away peacefully at St. Anthony's Hospice House on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.
Daniel was a great teacher and retired from school district No. 189. He was also a writer for the Daily Racing Form for many years. Daniel loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Nellie, nee Yevin, Hrysko; and his wife, Vivian, nee Kofahl, Hrysko, whom he married Nov. 13, 1970, in Granite City, Ill.
Surviving are two daughters, Holli (Jason) Lorsbach of Maryville, Ill., and Heather L. (Charles) Zieba of Wildwood, Mo.; a brother, David M. Hrysko of Madison, Ill.; and grandsons, Alexander Lorsbach, Evan Zieba, and Marcus Zieba.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes to have donations made to the ALS Association St. Louis Regional Chapter, 2258 Weldon Parkway, St. Louis, Mo. 63146.
Visitation: A memorial gathering for Daniel will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill.
Funeral: Memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Kofahl officiating. Daniel's remains were donated for anatomical study per his request.
