David VanDermay, 67, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on April 22, 2024 from complications following a heart attack. Dave was born in Lafayette, Indiana on November 27, 1955, the youngest child of Francis and Betty VanDermay. Dave attended Highland Grade School and was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson High School. On July 30, 1983 he married Coralyn Delikat of Hales Corners, Wisconsin. He graduated from Purdue University in 2000.

Dave had worked for Nelson's Towing Service, GTE and as an apartment manager. Later on he was a part time youth director at Saint James Lutheran Church. He was the owner of Music Express DJ service. Dave was proud to work as campaign manager for Senator Katie Wolf. In 1993 Dave and Coralyn moved to Collinsville, IL where he worked for Lutheran Hour Ministries. Dave then worked as an EMT for MedStar until his retirement.

In 2012 Dave and Coralyn adopted Angel who is the joy of their lives.

Dave loved the state of Indiana, Purdue University, Indy and NASCAR racing, Big 10 college football and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He found great joy playing Santa for many years, working with youth at several churches and spending time with friends and family. He loved planning family lunches at restaurants followed by shopping excursions especially to Target.

Dave could and would strike up a conversation with anyone, had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. Spending "Opa" time with granddaughter Sylvi was something he treasured and we are so happy "Opa" was able to hold his second granddaughter, Zahrina.

Dave is survived by his wife Coralyn, daughter Angel Elledge, son in law Erik and 2 granddaughters Sylvi and Zahrina. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy VanDermay.

A Celebration of Dave's life is being held on November 16, 2024.
