Debbie Lee Blackburn, 55, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Debbie was born August 28, 1964 in Centerville, Illinois to John Schmiz and Marilyn (Willard) Schmiz. She married Jim Blackburn on August 25, 1984.

Together, they had two daughters who survive, Jessica Nicole Johnston of Fairview Heights, Illinois and Amanda Jo Blackburn of Granite City, IL; five grandchildren, Savannah, McKenzie, Rebecca, Cooper and Jack; also surviving or her sister Angie Fowler of Lebanon, IL, Lori Clement of Granite City, IL and one brother Dan Bellm of Fairview Heights IL., and Brother and sister in law Trina & Larry Hernandez of Belleville, IL, brother and sister in law, William & Martha Blackburn, O'Fallon IL.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father John Schmiz and step-sister Tracy Hooker and sister in law Deborah Reynolds.

Debbie was a compassionate, understanding and accepting woman who loved her lord and savior. She served the lord teaching Sunday school, leading vacation bible school and working in any capacity in the church when needed.

Anyone who knew her knew she had a heart of gold. Her bright smile and contagious laugh brought out the best in all who knew her.  She was crazy over her grandchildren and her family, always sharing her time and love to support them in anyway.  She will be deeply missed by all who love her

Visitation for Debbie will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Illinois.

Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., on Monday December 23, 2019, at Eastview Baptist Church, Belleville, IL.

Interment will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
