Deborah K. Byers (nee Locklar) 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021, with her husband and "Furry Kids" by her side at her home in Collinsville, IL. She was born on February 7, 1952 in East St. Louis, IL to Jack and Evelyn Locklar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Evelyn Locklar and a step-brother Steven Marston; grand parents John and Alene Locklar.
She is survived by her husband Phil Byers which she married on August 23,1996, her step-brother Tom Marston of Highland, IL, step-sister Sherry (David) Warfield, of Butler, MO and step-sister Dawn Marston of Collinsville, IL, and host of nieces and nephews.
Debbie was a graduate of the class of 1970 at East St. Louis High School. She worked for many years in the construction business as a project secretary spending some years at Korte Construction in Highland, IL and almost 20 years at McCarthy Construction in St. Louis, MO.
Debbie was an avid bowler spending many years in the leagues at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville, IL. She was a collector of cows throughout the years with an extensive collection of Mary Moo Moos. She was also a diehard Cubs fan and was ecstatic with their 2016 World Series victory. She also loved stock car racing, spending many nights at dirt tracks across the country.
Her true love lied in her love of animals. She loved and spoiled her pets like no other. She owned many Maltese dogs through the years and they were her world.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 3-7 pm, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL. Cremation rites are being handled by Herr Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Deborah name to the Collinsville Animal Shelter or the shelter of your choice.
