Dolores M. Cunningham

Dolores M. Cunningham, 93, of Maryville, Ill., born February 14, 1924, in Staunton, Ill., passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at her home.

Dolores was a loving and caring wife and mother. Trained in accounting, she also earned her real estate license. For most of her working career she was a secretary in area law firms as well as working for the state. She will be mostly remembered for being an accomplished piano teacher in the Edwardsville and Maryville areas. In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques. A generous and compassionate dog lover, she was committed to animal rescue.

She was preceded in death by Arthur Cunningham, her dear loving husband of nearly 50 years and who passed away December 26, 2000; her parents, Henry and Bertha, nee Vogelsang, Bahn; and her brother, Harold Bahn.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Renee and Michael Shea of Columbus, Oh.; grandchildren, Meredith Barnes of Charlottesville, Va., Christopher Shea of Columbus, Oh.; and niece and nephew, Sharon Banes and Chris Bahn.

Memorials in honor of Dolores may be made to American Humane Society or Bread upon the Waters, a unique scholarship fund at the University of Pennsylvania for women over 30. These can be received at the funeral home. Condolences can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation: Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill., with Father Al Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill.
