Dolores E. Kirby, nee Hammon, 92, of Collinsville, Ill., born Monday, Jan. 22, 1923, in Bushnell, Ill., passed away at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Kirby retired as a secretary after 15 years from the American Car Foundry in St. Louis, Mo. She loved flowers and working in her yard. She was a member of the Garden Club, the Women's Club and the First United Methodist Church, all in Collinsville, Ill. Dolores was a very talented artist and was a proud past president of the Friends of the Museum; she was instrumental in obtaining grants so the present location could be purchased. Dolores loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Richard Kirby, whom she married on June 28, 1941; son, Michael Richard Kirby; and parents, William Thomas and Susie, nee Peek, Hammon. Dolores was the last of seven siblings, two sisters, Eva Newell and Mae Woodkirk; and four brothers Ray, Lee, Dale and Jack Hammon.
Surviving are her son, David (Phyllis) Kirby of Collinsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Derek (Tiffany) Kirby and Stacy (Steve) Tyler; four great-grandchildren; and by her beloved companion, Abby.
