Obituary

Dolores Evelyn Wesemann, 93, of Collinsville, IL, born September 25, 1927, passed away, on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Mercy Rehab & Care Center, in Swansea, IL.

She was the daughter of the late James and Lillian, nee Ogle, Lansing.  Also preceding her in death, was her husband of 72 years, Richard J. Wesemann, who passed on February 28, 2019.  Siblings who have passed include three brothers, Jim and John Lansing and George, who died in infancy, and two sisters, Virginia Grenawalt and Anna Pearle Perigen.

Surviving is her son, Larry (Pat) Wesemann of Fairview Heights, IL and her grandson, Brad Wesemann of Belleville, IL.  Also surviving, is one brother, Roy Lansing of Quincy, IL and three sisters, Fran Webber of Swansea, IL, May Moses of Collinsville, IL, and Beverly Hensley of Caseyville, IL.

On December 18, 1948, Dolores married Richard, and together, they chose Collinsville as the place to call home.  She was a housewife and "stay-at home" mother.  In her spare time, she enjoyed baking and gardening. She especially enjoyed the outdoors and loved to watch the birds and squirrels who often visited the feeders nearby the front window.  She also loved to see the other wildlife that often wandered into the front yard from the wooded area close to the house.

Whenever she could, she would listen the wise and comforting words of both Billy & Franklin Graham.  She also liked to listen to country music or take time out to work on solving word find puzzles. Sometimes, Dolores even joined Richard to watch a Hallmark TV presentation while munching on a yummy Drumstick ice cream dessert!

Dolores was a generous person who often made donations to a variety of charities.  She made it her personal mission to help out others less fortunate than her, and she also supported groups working to protect animals in the wild as well as those living in shelters.

She was a devoted member of the Son Life Church in Collinsville, IL (…now the Navigation Church…)

She often volunteered to help the Collinsville Area Meals on Wheels service group, making sure that meals were delivered where needed.  In addition, she participated in many of the "church-sponsored" outreach programs designed to help support those who were facing difficult life challenges.

Due to the many challenges we all are currently facing, a private funeral was held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL.  The service was officiated by Pastor Dennis Amsden.  Burial followed at St. John's Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.

Dolores and Richard are together, again, forever
