IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Lee
Weeks
February 16, 1952 – May 27, 2025
Donna Lee Weeks, nee Myers, 73, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, while surrounded in love.
Donna was born on February 16, 1952, in Granite City, Illinois, to parents Hobson Myers and Wanda (Patterson) Myers. She was affectionately called "Dusty" as a child, a nickname she always held dear to her heart. When she was 13 years old, she fell in love with the man who would become her husband and father of their four children, Lloyd "Jeff" Weeks. All it took was a dissected frog being placed into her lab coat pocket. They enjoyed many complicated yet loving years together until his passing in December of 2007.
Donna spent her childhood and early years in Granite City before Jeff and family built their dream home in Worden, Illinois. Donna and Jeff owned The Rapp Inn, a bar in Worden, before eventually selling it. After which time, she pursued a career in the nursing industry. She was a devoted nurse, specializing in geriatric patients with a special fondness for those with Alzheimer's disease. In 2004, she made the transition to being a Nursing Home Administrator.
After retirement, Donna moved to Florida, with her partner, Alvin Hysler. Donna was one of the lucky ones who got to experience two great loves in her life. She felt most at home on the beach, with seashells at her feet, sand between her toes, and Alvin by her side.
After the passing of her husband, Jeff, she found comfort and support in the local dancing community. Her best friends in life came from that community as did the love of her later life, Alvin. She enjoyed traveling to dance conventions, dressing up in themed attire, and traveling the world on cruises.
She was always happiest when she spent time outside. Whether it be cutting grass with her riding lawn mower, laying out at the beach, sitting in the stands of a St. Louis Cardinals game, or going on the annual Myers' Family Cousins' Trip- where laughter and the best kind of shenanigans always ensued. Donna also enjoyed a bit of athletics, having been apart of a bowling league in her younger years and taking up pickleball in her later years. There wasn't much Donna wasn't good at though, whether it be gardening, crocheting, or making crafts, which often included special oyster shell ornaments. If you got one of those, you knew she cared deeply for you.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hob and Wanda Myers; her husband, Jeff Weeks; her mother-in-law, Nola Kenner; her son, Cory Weeks; her brother Clyle Myers, Sr.; several aunts and uncles, along with her beloved cousin, Karen Teeter.
She is survived by her partner, Alvin Hysler; her children, Travis (Nicole Lancaster) Weeks, Beau Weeks, and Rebecca (Bradley Woodrum) Weeks; siblings, Susan (Floyd) Lybarger-Thorton and Eric (Vicki) Myers; grandchildren, Fletcher Weeks, Chance Weeks, Caleb Weeks, Lucas Weeks, and Kenzie Weeks; as well as numerous cousins and extended family members (whom all held a special place in her heart).
Her light and laughter will be missed by all who knew and cared for her, but solace can be found in knowing she's reunited with those she missed so dearly.
Donations may be made directly to the family or to the Alzheimer's Association .
