Donnie M. Carter, 79, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on October 29, 2021, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois.

Donnie was born February 9, 1942, in San Bernardino, California, to William McKinley and Lucy Mae (Fletcher) Carter.

During his career, he worked for years doing Road Construction.  He was a kind hearted man who loved his family.  He also was very fond of mowing his lawn.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers:  Clarence, D.J., Joe, Leonard, and Billy.

Survivors include his wife, Patti Carter of Edwardsville, Illinois; daughters:  Pamelia Smother of Belleville, Illinois, and Amber Christensen and husband Greg of Waterville, Kansas; sons: Donnie Zimmer and wife Wendy of Casper, Wyoming, and Eric Zimmer of Portland, Oregon; step-sons: Chris Minshall of Florida, and Rob Minshall of Missouri; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been accorded by Sunset Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Glen Carbon, Illinois. Private family inurnment will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Illinois.
