Doris Lucille Price, 83, passed away February 14, 2017, at the Windsor Assisted Care facility in Ocala, Florida while being cared for by Hospice of Marion County nurses and with family at her side. Doris Price was raised in Horace, Illinois the daughter of Bertha and Finley O. Johnson. She was married to the late Pat Price. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was the loving and devoted mother of five children: Jennifer (Pete) Broeder of Glendale, Missouri, Connie (Steve) Pellock of Highland, Illinois, Tracy (John) Stauder of Mountain Green, Utah, Stephen (Jody) Price of Uncasville, Connecticut, and Thomas (Gerrie) Price of Ridgefield, Connecticut; and she was the dear and very proud grandmother of eleven children: Peter, Jeff, Matt, Tony, Sam, Elizabeth, Jack, Stephen, Alex, Anna, and Allie.
Doris and Pat met at Eastern Illinois University and married while school teachers in Robinson, Illinois. They moved to Edwardsville, Illinois after spending a year in Germany while Pat was in the service. They raised their family in Edwardsville where they lived for 43 years together- most of those years on East Lake Drive in the Dunlap Lake subdivision. Doris loved tending to her yard and garden. Both Doris and Pat were Edwardsville School District 7 teachers. Doris was a physical education teacher and over her career she taught every grade level and in every District 7 school. She cared deeply for students'' wellbeing and gave each child the opportunity to succeed in physical education. Doris became an avid Notre Dame fan after watching her son, Tom, play college baseball there.
Doris'' past nine years were primarily spent in sunny Florida near her best friend Sheila Beegle and her Ash cousins. Doris'' children visited often and, over the past two years, they alternated monthly visits.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:30 am at Sunset Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, IL 62034. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
