COLLINSVILLE- Dorothy A. Bucher, 65, of Collinsville passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

She was born on April 14, 1951 in East St. Louis, Ill., to Edward and Margaret Bucher. They preceded her in death.

Surviving is her brother, Richard (Debbie) Bucher of St. Charles, Ill.; her nephew, Matthew Bucher and niece, Ashley Bucher; and her many dear friends.

Dorothy attended Eastern Illinois University for her undergraduate studies then earned her Master''s degree in Teaching from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. She taught AP English Literature and History for many years at Collinsville High School; retiring in 2011.

She was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, and served as Treasurer for the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She had three pet cats whom she adored and loved. Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highland Animal Shelter, Highland IL. or The American Diabetes Association. Additional condolences may also be sent to her family through this online guestbook.

VISITATION: A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 9:00 A.M.- 12:30 P.M. at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville.

FUNERAL: A funeral Mass will be at 1:00 P.M. at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, Ill. Fr. Joseph Havrilka will officiate. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
