Dorothy Simmons, nee Lucas, 81 of Caseyville, Illinois; born September 9, 1934 in St. Louis Missouri, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at her residence.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister-in-law but her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy in life. She relished every moment spent with them and had a unique bond with each one. Dorothy was a passionate St. Louis Cardinal''s fan and loved to spend time with her friends on her weekly bowling league. She was known to all for her feisty personality and out spoken attitude which left quite the impression on everyone. She was simply an amazing person with a wonderful heart and would do whatever she possibly could to help others. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Georgia Lucas; brother''s Anthony, James and in infancy, Lawrence Lucas.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Homer Simmons; her children
Kathleen (Stephen) Duckworth of Collinsville, IL, Senior Master Sergeant (Retired) Fred (Tara) Simmons of O''Fallon IL, and Helen (Robert) Watt of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren Zachary (Angie) Simmons, Chad and Connor Duckworth, Airman Caitlyn and Kade Simmons, Katherine and Eric Watt, and great grandchildren Elijah and Erin Simmons. She is also survived by her sisters-in-laws Helen Simmons of Caseyville, Carol Lucas and Georgia Lucas of St. Louis

Visitation: Visitation will be held at the Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, Illinois on Sunday August 7, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Services: Funeral services will be on Monday August 8, 2016 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home with Father John Beveridge officiating. Interment to follow at Jefferson-Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
