Dorothy J. Patton, 88, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away on February 1, 2022, at
Alton Memorial Rehabilitation & Therapy with her son David at her side.
Dorothy was born December 18, 1933, in Venice, Illinois, to Walter and Elsie
(Schlingman) Rusick. She married Ernest Patton on July 16, 1955, in Venice, Illinois.
She enjoyed travel, dinner outings with her friends, women's club, and gardening. She
liked to watch the birds on her feeders, daily swimming at the YMCA, and walks around
the park. Dorothy was crazy about her grandkids and her faithful dog, Midnight. She was
an excellent cook and would deliver favorite meals to her son and grandkids weekly.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Patton; brothers: Edward
Rusick and his wife, Kathryn, and Charles Rusick.
Survivors include her sons: James Patton and wife Dawn of St. Peters, Missouri, and
David Patton and wife Stacy of Edwardsville, Illinois; brother, Rodney Rusick of
Greenville, Illinois; grandchildren: Kelly Patton of Paris, France, Shannon Patton of
Alton, Illinois; Michael Kelly of Alton, Illinois; Molly Kelly of Alton Illinois: Maggie
Kelly of Columbus Ohio: as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been accorded by Sunset Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services of
Glen Carbon, Illinois.
A private family inurnment will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon,
Illinois.
